265 Bowery | Paulaner Brewery
Project Summary
Once belonging to the 1940’s cabaret called Sammy’s Bowery Follies, Paulaner Brewery opened its doors to become the first microbrewery in the United States. Paulaner Brewery’s main feature was its beer that was brewer on site and served with contemporary cuisine that reflected its Bavarian heritage.
The 9800 square foot space (along with the facade) was designed by Morali Architects and consisted of exposed brick walls, held 240 seats, and lined with the copper and steel brewing tanks in an overall industrial style, eclectic design that integrated German culture with that of Manhattan’s. The lower level was a special event space that could hold up to fifty guests for private events..
